MADISON, WIS. – The grim streets of Madison were hit with a heavy blow as Gregory P. Robinson, 41, was convicted on multiple counts of drug trafficking following a three-day federal trial in the city. Robinson’s reign of supplying cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl has come to an end after a jury deliberated just over two hours before handing down a guilty verdict.
According to Chadwick M. Elgersma, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, the government presented evidence at trial that Robinson sold illegal substances to an undercover officer on four separate occasions in June 2024. The drugs were traded for cash in various locations across Madison.
The search warrant executed by law enforcement on June 25, 2024, at Robinson’s hotel room yielded a staggering amount of illegal drugs: over 500 grams of cocaine, heroin, and more than 40 grams of fentanyl. Drug packaging materials, ingredients to manufacture crack cocaine, a money counter, and U.S. currency were also discovered.
The Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory confirmed the chemical composition of the substances, while the DEA witness stated that the quantities found pointed toward distribution rather than personal use. Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson has set October 2, 2025, for sentencing, where Robinson could face up to 20 years in federal prison for each drug distribution charge and an additional 40 years for maintaining a drug-involved premises.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Colleen Lennon and William M. Levins handled the prosecution of the case, which was investigated by the Madison Police Department, Dane County Narcotics Task Force, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, with assistance from the ATF Madison Crime Gun Task Force.
This conviction sends a stark message to those who would traffic in drugs within our community, ensuring that justice will be served for the streets of Madison.
