South Dakota – A disturbing case of child abuse has come to an end with the sentencing of Raymond Uses The Knife III, a/k/a Yamni Uses The Knife, a 22-year-old man from Eagle Butte, South Dakota. Uses The Knife was convicted of Assault of a Minor and was sentenced to 10 months of custody, 6 months of supervised release, and a $25 Special Assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.
According to court records, Uses The Knife was indicted for Sexual Contact with a Minor on June 12, 2012. However, he later pled guilty to a Superseding Information on January 23, 2013, which charged him with Assault of a Minor.
The disturbing incident occurred in August 2012 in Eagle Butte when Uses The Knife assaulted a victim under the age of 16. The investigation was conducted by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Division, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikal Hanson prosecuting the case.
