Marco Chavira Pleads Guilty to Methamphetamine Sales in Missouri
A Texas man has admitted to selling 1.4 kilograms of methamphetamine to an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agent.
Marco Chavira, 35, of El Paso, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, a charge that carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of five years and a maximum of 40 years.
The crime occurred on August 16, 2022, when Chavira met with the agent in El Paso. Chavira believed the agent was a driver who would transport the drugs to St. Louis and Chicago. Chavira sold 1.4 kilograms of methamphetamine to the agent and “fronted” the agent a kilogram of cocaine, meaning he expected to be paid later for the cocaine.
The Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Casey is prosecuting the case. Chavira’s sentencing is set for August 9, and he could also face a fine of up to $5 million.
Chavira’s actions put the safety of people in Missouri at risk, and we are glad that he has been held accountable for his crimes. We will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
