Mario Peeples, a 35-year-old convicted felon, is facing serious charges after being accused of violating federal drug and gun laws in Orange, Texas.
According to a recent indictment, Peeples was found in possession of multiple firearms and methamphetamine intended for distribution in February and July 2025. As a previously convicted felon, Peeples is prohibited by federal law from owning or possessing firearms.
The indictment, which was returned by a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas, charges Peeples with being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, and possession of a controlled substance on a premises where children are present.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime. The operation streamlines efforts and resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
If convicted, Peeples faces up to 30 years in federal prison. The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Beaumont Police Department, and the Orange Police Department. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Tommy Coleman is prosecuting the case.
A federal indictment is not evidence of guilt and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
