Jamien Markee Marshall, Felon Firearm Possession, North Carolina 2020

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A gritty day in federal court saw 31-year-old Jamien Markee Marshall of Charlotte face the music for his illegal firearm possession, sentenced to seven years behind bars by U.S. District Judge Max O. Cogburn Jr.

Marshall’s sentence included enhancements due to his two prior armed robbery convictions and the obliterated serial number on the firearm found in his vehicle. The CMPD officers’ keen eyes led them to Marshall at L.C. Coleman Park, where they discovered a loaded gun with no serial number, a clear sign of intent to evade law enforcement.

According to court documents, Marshall confessed to having the firearm during a March 26, 2019 incident. After a thorough investigation, he pleaded guilty on March 2, 2020, to possession of a firearm by a felon, a charge stemming from his two prior Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon convictions in Mecklenburg County.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Charlotte, represented by Assistant United States Attorney William Bozin, prosecuted the case with tenacity. Marshall is currently in federal custody and will be transferred to the Federal Bureau of Prisons upon designation of a suitable facility.

This investigation was a collaboration between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the CMPD, ensuring that those who flout firearms laws face the full weight of justice. Marshall’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences for illegal firearm possession in North Carolina.
