Martinsburg Man Sentenced for Gun Possession

MARTINSBURG, WV – Marwin Uriah Wilson, 28, of Martinsburg, has been handed a three-year sentence for unlawful firearm possession. The sentence was announced by Acting United States Attorney Betsy Steinfeld Jividen.

Wilson’s transgression came to light in March 2016 when he was caught with a .9mm pistol. His legal troubles were compounded by his previous conviction of felony offense ‘Unlawful Wounding’ in Berkeley County, West Virginia. He pleaded guilty to the firearm charge in December 2016.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Z. Krasinski handled the prosecution for the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) along with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office were instrumental in the investigation.

The case was presided over by Chief U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh.

Wilson’s sentence is a stark reminder of the serious consequences for illegal firearm possession in West Virginia.
