A Martinsburg woman has admitted to her role in distributing fentanyl and heroin in Berkeley County, West Virginia. Tinesha Joann Burrows, 37, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the possession with intent to distribute the deadly drugs in February 2019.
According to court documents, Burrows worked with another individual to distribute the fentanyl and heroin in the area. The investigation into Burrows’ activities was led by the Washington County, Maryland Task Force.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy D. Helman is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. Chief U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh will preside over the sentencing hearing.
Burrows faces up to 20 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
The guilty plea marks a significant blow to those involved in the distribution of fentanyl and heroin in the region. Law enforcement officials have been working tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle these operations, and this case is a testament to their dedication and commitment to public safety.
The investigation and prosecution of this case are a prime example of the collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Attorney’s Office to combat the opioid crisis and bring those responsible to justice.
