CONCORD – The grimy streets of New Hampshire have once again witnessed the heavy hand of justice. Robert Gramolini, a Massachusetts man with a taste for stolen property, has been sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for his brazen act of trailer theft.
Gramolini, 64, from Malden, Massachusetts, was caught on video stealing a black enclosed trailer from a Hampton business. His gray Dodge pickup was the getaway vehicle, and authorities eventually tracked him down at a Brentwood storage lot.
Upon searching the lot, officers uncovered not just one but several stolen trailers, along with motorcycles. Gramolini’s modus operandi seemed clear: he would drive his truck to the scene of his thefts, then return to store the stolen goods in his rented space.
The extent of Gramolini’s thievery was revealed when he arrived at his storage lot, driving the same gray pickup seen on security footage. His confession? He had not only taken the Hampton trailer but also another one from Massachusetts containing nearly $64,000 worth of heavy equipment. The total value of the stolen goods exceeded $150,000.
In a statement, U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young emphasized the severity of Gramolini’s crime, stating, ‘The defendant traveled across state lines to steal tens of thousands of dollars of property from others. Through the hard work of local and federal law enforcement officers, we stopped this criminal’s activities and held him accountable for his actions.’
This case was a collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Hampton Police Department, and the Brentwood Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew T. Hunter and Alexander S. Chen prosecuted the case.
