Marcus Edward Lee, Possession of Certain Material Involving the Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Oklahoma 2025

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – Marcus Edward Lee, 33, of McAlester, Oklahoma, will spend the next six years in federal prison after being sentenced for possessing horrific images of child sexual abuse. Lee received a 72-month sentence on one count of Possession of Certain Material Involving the Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, a sentence handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White.

The case stems from a lengthy investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation into a network of online predators sharing deeply disturbing content. Federal agents raided Lee’s McAlester residence on May 20, 2024, uncovering a digital trove of depravity. A search of two cell phones seized at the scene revealed nearly 600 images depicting the sexual abuse and assault of children aged between three and thirteen years old.

Lee pleaded guilty on January 13, 2025, admitting to knowingly possessing the illegal visual depictions. The evidence paints a grim picture of a man actively seeking out and storing material that exploits vulnerable children. This wasn’t a passive collection; it was an active engagement with a horrific online subculture.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 aimed at dismantling child sexual exploitation networks. The project leverages resources from federal, state, and local law enforcement to bring predators to justice and, crucially, to rescue victims. The initiative clearly isn’t working fast enough, but the DOJ continues to tout it as a core component of their strategy.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessie K. Pippin successfully prosecuted the case, securing the 72-month sentence. Lee is currently in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service and will be transferred to a Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his non-paroleable term. His incarceration sends a message, though whether it’s enough to deter others remains to be seen.

If you suspect child sexual exploitation or abuse, do not remain silent.
