Kenneth Wayde Elkins, Video Voyeurism, Oklahoma 2014

McAlester, Oklahoma – A McAlester man has been handed a tough sentence for committing three counts of video voyeurism. Kenneth Wayde Elkins, 56, was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment and must pay a fine totaling $30,000.00 for his transgressions, which occurred at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.

The investigation that led to Elkins’ conviction was a joint effort by McAlester Army Ammunition Plant Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Elkins pleaded guilty in February 2014, admitting to capturing images of females without their consent between July 1, 2013, and August 14, 2013.

The victims were in a restroom area where they reasonably expected privacy, which made Elkins’ actions all the more egregious. According to the charges, Elkins knew what he was doing was illegal, yet he disregarded the law and violated the victims’ rights to privacy.

Judge Steven P. Shreder presided over the hearing in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Following his sentencing, Elkins was remanded into the custody of the United States Marshal Service for transportation to the federal prison where he will serve his nonparolable sentence.

Assistant United States Attorney Dean Burris represented the United States in this case, ensuring that justice was served. Elkins is also required to register as a sex offender, reflecting the serious nature of his crime and its impact on his victims.
