Damian Havens, a 52-year-old from Sioux City, Iowa, pleaded guilty to a federal meth conspiracy charge on July 15, 2026. Between March and May 2026, Havens conspired with others to distribute over 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine in Sioux City. The meth ring was busted when law enforcement responded to a suspicious person report on May 7, 2026, and found Havens with a quarter pound of meth and an airsoft pistol in his backpack.
Havens admitted to planning to distribute the meth, and now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment. He also faces a $10 million fine and at least five years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the Tri-State Drug Task Force, which includes the DEA, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Sioux City Police Department, among others. Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde is prosecuting the case, which is set for sentencing before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand.
The guilty plea is a significant victory for law enforcement in the fight against meth trafficking in Iowa. The Tri-State Drug Task Force has been working to dismantle meth rings in the area, and Havens’ conviction is a major blow to these efforts.
