Jamie Ann Tanner, a 44-year-old methamphetamine trafficker from New Martinsville, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 151 months in federal prison. Tanner pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine after selling the drug to a confidential informant on several occasions. The investigation, which involved the Marshall County Drug Task Force, the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office, led officers to her apartment, where they found a large stash of methamphetamine.
When officers executed a search warrant at Tanner’s apartment, they seized approximately 31 small plastic baggies containing about 3.7 grams of methamphetamine each, a larger bag with more of the substance, and hundreds of unused baggies. A black safe in the room contained an additional two pounds of methamphetamine and $2,674 in cash. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Clayton Reid and is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
Tanner’s sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey. The investigation and prosecution of Tanner’s case demonstrate the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat methamphetamine trafficking in West Virginia and across the country.
