Methamphetamine Dealer Indicted in Tyler County

A Tyler County man has been charged with selling methamphetamine in the area. Shirl Norman Baker, III, 42, of Paden City, West Virginia, was indicted today on one count of ‘Distribution of 5 Grams or More of Methamphetamine’ and three counts of ‘Distribution of Methamphetamine.’

According to the indictment, Baker sold methamphetamine in March 2020, January 2021, and February 2021 in Wetzel and Tyler Counties. He faces at least five years and up to 40 years of incarceration for the first count and faces up to 20 years of incarceration for the other three counts.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant. Assistant U.S. Attorney Clayton J. Reid is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.

The Marshall County Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated the case. An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
