Mexican Man Sentenced to Time Served for Reentry
PITTSBURGH – A 34-year-old Mexican native has been sentenced to time served for reentering the United States despite being removed twice previously.
José Alfredo Mora-Aguilar, of Coraopolis, Pa., pleaded guilty to one count of reentry of a removed alien in federal court before United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak.
Mora-Aguilar was found to have been removed from the country on two prior occasions, but returned to the US, leading to his reentry charge.
Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation that led to Mora-Aguilar’s prosecution. Assistant United States Attorney James T. Kitchen is leading the case.
The case serves as a reminder of the consequences of reentering the country after being removed. ‘We will continue to work to protect our communities from those who seek to disregard our immigration laws,’ said United States Attorney David J. Hickton in a statement.
Mora-Aguilar has been sentenced to time served, effectively ending his punishment. The exact amount of time he spent in custody is not specified in the court records. The case has been closed, and Mora-Aguilar will be deported back to Mexico following his release.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat immigration-related crimes and protect the integrity of our borders.
