A Morgantown man has been sentenced to 77 months in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm.
Michael Sheriff Scott, 35, of Morgantown, West Virginia, was sentenced today to 77 months in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm, United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced.
As a result of two previous felony convictions in Maryland for concealing a dangerous weapon and drug trafficking, Scott is prohibited from possessing firearms.
He was discovered in unlawful possession of a firearm in November 2014 in Monongalia County, West Virginia.
He pled guilty in May 2015 to one count of “Felon in Possession of Firearm.”
Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated.
U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided.
