Wilkes-Barre Woman Sentenced to 127 Months for Heroin Trafficking Conspiracy
A woman from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania has been sentenced to 127 months in prison for her involvement in a heroin trafficking conspiracy that distributed over 1,000 grams of heroin in Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Wyoming Counties.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Danielle Moorer, age 36, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani on September 2, 2021. Moorer pleaded guilty to conspiring with others to distribute more than one kilogram of heroin between 2015 and 2018.
The investigation, which involved federal agents and the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, uncovered a conspiracy that distributed over 50,000 retail bags of heroin. Moorer admitted to possessing firearms in connection with her drug trafficking activities.
As part of her sentence, Moorer was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release. Federal agents seized approximately $100,000 in cash, multiple Rolex watches, vehicles, and four firearms from Moorer and her husband, Hakim Wilburn, who was previously sentenced to 198 months in prison for his role in the conspiracy.
The case was part of a district-wide initiative to combat the heroin epidemic in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. The U.S. Attorney’s Office led the effort, working in partnership with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to develop effective strategies to reduce crime.
Moorer’s conviction and sentence serve as a reminder of the importance of holding individuals accountable for their role in the heroin trade. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work tirelessly to bring heroin traffickers to justice and make our communities safer.
