Drug Trafficking Suspect Brought to Justice
A Moss Point man has pleaded guilty to using a cell phone to promote a narcotics conspiracy, authorities announced today.
Rodney Lewis McLeod, 45, was charged with using an interstate facility to promote a conspiracy to distribute narcotics. According to court documents, McLeod used his cell phone to facilitate the carrying on of the unlawful activity.
The case is being investigated by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force in Pascagoula, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Annette Williams prosecuting the case.
McLeod is scheduled to be sentenced on November 29, 2021, and faces a maximum penalty of 4 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The guilty plea is a significant blow to the narcotics conspiracy, which had been operating in the region. Law enforcement officials praised the efforts of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and Assistant U.S. Attorney Williams for their work in bringing the case to a successful conclusion.
McLeod’s plea deal is a reminder that law enforcement is committed to disrupting and dismantling narcotics conspiracies that threaten public safety. The case serves as a warning to those involved in narcotics trafficking that they will be held accountable for their actions.
