Murphysboro Man Pleads Guilty to Heroin Distribution
Brian L. Cayce, 45, a resident of Murphysboro, Illinois, has pleaded guilty to distributing heroin in Saline County, according to court records.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois, Cayce was arrested and charged with distributing 1.9 grams of heroin on September 18, 2012, to an undercover agent of the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force.
Cayce faces up to 20 years’ imprisonment, a $1 million fine, and a term of 3 years to life on supervised release following his incarceration.
The case was investigated by the Carmi office of the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force, with assistance from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.
Assistant U.S. Attorney James M. Cutchin is prosecuting the case.
Cayce has been held without bond in the custody of the United States Marshal since his arrest and will be returned to Marshal’s custody to await sentencing, which is set for October 3, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the United States District Courthouse in Benton.
