New Orleans, LA – William Robinson, 40, a resident of the Crescent City, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for violating the Federal Gun Control Act. The charges stem from Robinson’s alleged role in a shooting incident in the French Quarter last year.
According to court records, Robinson admitted guilt on August 26, 2025, before Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown. He was charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition, as outlined in 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(2).
The NOPD investigation led to Robinson’s identification as the shooter in a January 2022 incident captured on video surveillance. The recovered nine-millimeter spent shell casings matched those from the scene. A subsequent search warrant executed at Robinson’s residence uncovered the LA Dodgers World Series jacket he wore during the shooting, further linking him to the crime.
Robinson was a convicted felon when he possessed the ammunition used in the 2022 shooting. He now faces a maximum sentence of ten years imprisonment, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for December 4, 2025.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence across the nation. Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson commended the efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the New Orleans Police Department in bringing Robinson to justice.
Assistant United States Attorneys Elizabeth Privitera and Maurice Landrieu handled the prosecution. The PSN initiative underscores its commitment to fostering community trust and supporting organizations that prevent violence at its source.
