ST. LOUIS – In a chilling verdict, 55-year-old Davie John Metzger of O’Fallon, Missouri, has been sentenced to 78 months in prison for his monstrous possession of child sexual abuse material. The U.S. District Judge John A. Ross also mandated that Metzger pay $24,000 in restitution to identified victims and an additional $40,000 to assist other child pornography victims.
Metzger’s depravity was exposed when he accumulated 369 images of child sexual abuse on a flash drive, 24 images on a hard drive, 211 online, and 343 on his cell phone. His actions led to three CyberTipline reports to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
During an online account search approved by the court, authorities discovered Metzger’s covert photos of women and girls in public areas. In April, Metzger pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of receipt of child pornography.
The FBI and St. Charles County Cybercrime Task Force meticulously investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jillian Anderson was the lead prosecutor.
This conviction is a result of Project Safe Childhood, a justice department initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program leverages federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children online, while aiding victims.
