OKLAHOMA CITY – A relentless campaign against gun crime has landed 24-year-old Donald Edward Hill, Jr. behind bars for eight years. Hill, a resident of Oklahoma City, was sentenced to serve 96 months in federal prison for illegal firearm possession after having been previously convicted of multiple felonies.
Hill’s descent into the criminal underworld began with an arrest warrant issued for him in March 2023, stemming from a shooting incident. When law enforcement executed a search warrant at Hill’s Edmond apartment, they discovered a pistol concealed in his pants. The firearm was recovered following the execution of a warrant related to a shooting incident.
According to public records, Hill has an extensive criminal history, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, and possession of a firearm after juvenile adjudication. These offenses were all committed in Oklahoma County District Court case number CF-2017-6085; placing bodily fluids upon a government employee was another charge he faced in CF-2018-1014; and CF-2019-543 involved his possession of a firearm after juvenile adjudication.
Hill pleaded guilty to the charges on September 11, 2023. In a court admission, Hill confessed to knowing that his possession of the firearm was illegal due to his previous felony convictions.
During the sentencing hearing on June 18, 2024, U.S. District Judge Jodi W. Dishman took into account Hill’s extensive criminal history and lack of respect for the law, as well as the need to protect the public from any further crimes he might commit. The judge sentenced Hill to serve 96 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Oklahoma City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Danielle M. Connolly handled the prosecution. It is a part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in our communities.
