New Britain’s Orlando Guzman was handed a 20-year federal prison sentence today after being caught on tape sexually abusing a child and amassing a trove of child porn.
David X. Sullivan, the U.S. Attorney for Connecticut, announced that Guzman, now 74 years old, has been sentenced by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden to 240 months behind bars. Additionally, he will serve a lifetime of supervised release.
The grim case began when Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) uncovered a network of individuals using an internet chat app to trade child abuse images. Guzman was identified as an active member in two such groups.
Between February and August 2022, court documents reveal that Guzman sexually exploited a minor female, recording the abuse on his mobile devices. The investigation turned up over 3,000 video files and more than 2,000 image files of child porn, including footage of Guzman’s attacks on the young victim.
Guzman was arrested on September 7, 2022, and has been in custody since. He pleaded guilty to production of child pornography and possession of child pornography on January 22, 2025.
