Oscar Omar Campos-Rojas, Illegal Reentry, Louisiana 2023

Oscar Omar Campos-Rojas, a 32-year-old Honduran national, has been sentenced to 14 months in prison for violating federal immigration laws.

According to court documents, Campos-Rojas was previously removed from the United States on April 4, 2011. However, he was found in the Eastern District of Louisiana on August 17, 2015, without permission from the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security to reenter.

Acting U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the work of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency in investigating this matter.

Campos-Rojas pleaded guilty to a one-count indictment charging him with illegal reentry of a removed alien, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1326(a).

United States District Court Judge Jane Triche Milazzo handed down the sentence, which also includes 1 year of supervised release and a $100 special assessment fee.

Assistant United States Attorney Jon Maestri was in charge of the prosecution.

The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat immigration-related crimes and protect national security.
