Omaha Man Sentenced to 5 Years for Possessing Child Pornography
Paul Piskorski, a 53-year-old man from Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced to five years in prison for possessing child pornography. The crime took place in May 2018, when Piskorski uploaded an image of child pornography to Microsoft Bing’s search function.
On September 16, 2019, law enforcement agents executed a search warrant at Piskorski’s Omaha residence and located approximately 300 images of child pornography saved on his computer. The image he uploaded to Microsoft Bing was among the seized files.
Piskorski was sentenced on September 12, 2022, in federal court in Omaha by Senior United States District Judge Joseph F. Bataillon. There is no parole in the federal system, so Piskorski will serve his full five years without the possibility of early release.
After completing his prison term, Piskorski will begin a 5-year term of supervised release. This means that he will be under the supervision of a federal probation officer and will be required to comply with certain conditions, such as regular check-ins and potential drug testing.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Launched in May 2006, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
Piskorski’s conviction is a significant victory for law enforcement and advocates for victims of child exploitation. The sentencing serves as a reminder that the federal government takes these crimes seriously and will pursue prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. The case also highlights the importance of public awareness and education in preventing child exploitation and abuse.
