Robert Lee Jones, PCP Distribution Conspiracy, Maryland 2023

The streets of Capitol Heights, Maryland, have lost a major player in the PCP trade thanks to the tireless efforts of law enforcement. Robert Lee Jones, 26, of Capitol Heights, has been sentenced to 188 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for his role in a PCP distribution conspiracy.

Jones, a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition, but that didn’t stop him from being involved in a string of violent crimes. According to his plea agreement, Jones and two co-conspirators, who were armed with firearms, were arrested on February 10, 2012, on the way to a planned robbery of a cocaine dealer.

During the investigation, law enforcement discovered that Jones was responsible for the distribution of between one and three kilograms of PCP. He sold the illicit substance to a confidential source on at least 18 occasions.

The search warrant executed at the Central Gardens apartment complex yielded a 5.56 caliber semi-automatic rifle, a 30 and 100 round magazine, 22 rounds of various caliber ammunition, approximately 98 grams of crack cocaine, at least 211 grams of PCP, and drug paraphernalia.

U.S. District Judge Roger W. Titus handed down the sentence, which was announced by U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein, Special Agent in Charge Steven L. Gerido of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives – Baltimore Field Division, Chief Mark A. Magaw of the Prince George’s County Police Department, and Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela D. Alsobrooks.

Rosenstein commended the ATF, Prince George’s County Police Department, and Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office for their work in the investigation. He also thanked Assistant United States Attorneys William D. Moomau and Steven E. Swaney, who prosecuted the case.

With Jones behind bars, the streets of Capitol Heights are a little bit safer, and the community can rest easier knowing that a major player in the PCP trade has been brought to justice.
