Facing the Gavel: Pensacola’s Ralphael Roy Caldwell Sentenced for Illegal Firearm Possession
Ralphael Roy Caldwell, a 35-year-old resident of Pensacola, Florida, has been handed down a 42-month federal prison sentence for possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. This sentence comes after Caldwell was found guilty by a jury in April.
United States Attorney John P. Heekin, representing the Northern District of Florida, emphasized the collaboration between federal, state, and local law enforcement partners that led to Caldwell’s capture. ‘Fulfilling the promise of President Trump and Attorney General Bondi to Take Back America from violent criminals requires close collaboration,’ said Heekin.
During a traffic stop on September 10, 2024, officers discovered a loaded pistol in Caldwell’s waistband. He admitted ownership of the firearm, which was later linked to previous felony convictions including principal to attempted home invasion robbery with a firearm and shooting into a building.
The sentence is the culmination of a joint investigation by the Pensacola Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Alicia Forbes handled the prosecution of this case.
This conviction is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime. The Northern District of Florida’s U.S. Attorney’s Office is one of 94 principal litigator offices under the Department of Justice.
