A disturbing case of online predation has come to an end in Central New York. Peter N. Allen, a 33-year-old man from East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to serve 124 months in prison for attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with a minor.

According to court documents, Allen exchanged multiple sexually explicit messages online with an undercover officer posing as an 11-year-old girl between February and May 2020. He admitted to traveling from Pennsylvania to a fast-food restaurant parking lot in New York on May 14, 2020, to meet the child for sex.

Senior United States District Judge Thomas J. McAvoy handed down the sentence, which includes a 15-year term of supervised release to begin after Allen’s prison term. He will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael D. Gadarian as part of Project Safe Childhood. Launched in May 2006, Project Safe Childhood is a nationwide initiative aimed at combating online child exploitation and rescuing victims.
