A 33-year-old pharmacist from Maize, Kansas, Logan Marshall Abbott, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Wichita for allegedly stealing prescription drugs from his former employer. According to court documents, Abbott used his position to illegally acquire amphetamine, lisdexamfetamine, methylphenidate, and oxycodone without authorization. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is investigating the case, which is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ola Odeyemi.
The indictment charges Abbott with one count of acquiring and obtaining a controlled substance by deception/subterfuge. If convicted, Abbott faces serious federal penalties. The case highlights the ongoing issue of prescription drug abuse and the importance of holding medical professionals accountable for their actions.
In addition to Abbott’s case, several other individuals were also indicted in Wichita, including Marcus S. Castillo, who was charged with distribution of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Ramiro M. Ciprian-De La Cruz and David Colorado-Loredo, both illegal aliens, were indicted for unlawful reentry after deportation. Brooklyn Edward McKnight was indicted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The investigations were conducted by various law enforcement agencies, including the Wichita Police Department, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). The cases are being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ola Odeyemi.
