Pharmacy Robber Sentenced to 2+ Years
A sinister act of pharmacy robbery shook the community of Bath, Maine, in June 2013. On June 14, 2013, a Walgreens pharmacy was robbed, leaving a trail of destruction and a sense of unease among locals.
According to court records, 23-year-old Nicholas Alexander, a Dresden native, was involved in the heinous crime. Alexander handed a threatening note to a pharmacist, demanding Oxycodone 15mg tablets and 30s. The note read: ‘You have 20 seconds to give me all your Oxycodone 15mg tablets and 30s or I will blow your [expletive] brains out.’
The pharmacist, fearing for their life, handed Alexander a bag containing 11 bottles of Oxycodone tablets. However, this was not the end of the ordeal. Investigators found Alexander at a motel in Wiscasset, where they discovered almost 600 Oxycodone tablets. In a subsequent interview, Alexander admitted to robbing the store, using some of the stolen tablets, and selling others.
Assistant United States Attorney Craig M. Wolff confirmed that Alexander pleaded guilty to the charge on September 24, 2013. United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II praised the cooperative actions of local, county, state, and federal agencies involved in the investigation. He emphasized the importance of putting a stop to pharmacy robberies in Maine.
As a result of the investigation, Alexander was sentenced to 28 months in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release. The case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in such heinous crimes.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Bath Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Their tireless work brought the perpetrator to justice, ensuring that communities like Bath can feel safer once again.
