TAMPA, FL – Pierre C. Marc, 37, of Bradenton, is facing a potential life sentence after a federal jury found him guilty yesterday of running a large-scale drug distribution network across the Middle District of Florida. The conviction caps a multi-agency investigation into Marc’s operation, which authorities say pumped dangerous narcotics into Pinellas and Manatee counties.
Prosecutors presented evidence demonstrating Marc’s central role as a major drug supplier. Witnesses testified that between January and September 2019, Marc consistently provided one witness with an ounce of fentanyl and a staggering 1 to 2 kilograms of cocaine *every week* for street-level distribution in Pinellas County. The scale of the operation suggests a deeply entrenched network fueled by Marc’s supply.
The case took a dangerous turn in 2021 when Marc showed up to a controlled delivery with over 300 grams of fentanyl… and a firearm. This wasn’t a simple transaction; it highlighted the inherent risk and violence associated with Marc’s business. Another witness placed Marc as the source of 3 to 5 kilograms of fentanyl supplied for distribution in Manatee County during 2020 and 2021. That’s enough fentanyl to kill tens of thousands.
The bust is the result of a collaborative effort led by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), with support from the St. Petersburg Police Department and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation was conducted under the umbrella of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), a program designed to dismantle high-level criminal organizations.
Marc was convicted of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine and 400 grams or more of fentanyl, marijuana, and heroin, as well as possessing with the intent to distribute marijuana and 40 grams or more of fentanyl. He faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years in federal prison, with the potential for life behind bars. His sentencing is scheduled for June 14, 2024.
Assistant United States Attorney Shauna S. Hale is prosecuting the case. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, led by Roger B. Handberg, announced the conviction. While the agencies involved celebrate this win, the flow of deadly drugs into Florida remains a constant threat, demanding continued vigilance and aggressive prosecution of traffickers like Pierre C. Marc.
