Hitting the streets of Rapid City and the Pine Ridge Reservation with pure, Mexican-cartel meth was Harrison Caldwell’s specialty until the federal hammer came down. Today, the 31-year-old Pine Ridge man was sentenced to ten years in federal prison for his role in a massive drug conspiracy.
\\
United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced that on August 29, 2025, U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier handed down the sentence. Caldwell’s crime spree, which began around November 2023, didn’t just hit the streets; it struck a chord with law enforcement.
\\
Caldwell, who pleaded guilty on June 16, 2025, was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. His sentence will run consecutively to a previous 33-month sentence for assault, ensuring he spends over a decade behind bars.
\\
The investigation revealed that Caldwell and his crew were responsible for distributing almost 100% pure methamphetamine, much of which came from Mexican cartels. Despite his involvement being less significant than the higher-ups, Judge Schreier made it clear that justice was served with this sentence.
\\
Today’s sentencing followed a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Badlands Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force, and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Lindrooth prosecuted the case with fervor, ensuring justice for the victims.
\\
Caldwell was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service, effectively ending his reign of drug terror in the Rapid City area and within the Pine Ridge Reservation. The sentence serves as a stark reminder that the federal government is serious about tackling organized crime and its impact on communities.
