PORTLAND, Ore.—In a shocking turn of events, Temika Gardner, 40, from Portland, made her initial appearance in federal court today after being charged with assaulting a federal officer.
Gardner’s alleged assault occurred on October 23, 2025, when she reportedly interfered with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Deportation Officers during a lawful arrest. According to court documents, Gardner attempted to flee the scene but was eventually subdued by officers. Her actions escalated as she repeatedly placed her hands on officers, attempting to hinder their movements.
In a brazen display of resistance, Gardner struck an officer in the face, yanking his face covering from his head and discarding it. She then launched at least two swings at a second officer, knocking off his sunglasses in the process. The chaos continued as she pulled the face mask of a third officer with such force that he was propelled backward.
Finally, Gardner’s aggression led to her arrest when she struck a fourth officer on the left side of his jaw. Today’s court appearance marked Gardner’s first time facing federal charges, and she has been ordered released pending further proceedings.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon is prosecuting this case, while Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is conducting an investigation into the incident. It is important to note that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and Gardner is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
