A former postal worker in Pensacola, Florida, is accused of stealing mail, a crime that’s left investigators and law enforcement scratching their heads. Evan Aldric Harris, 29, of Evergreen, Alabama, allegedly started pilfering packages and letters from the US Postal Service while on the job.

The thefts reportedly occurred between an unknown start date and an unknown end date, but the scheme came to light when postal officials noticed a discrepancy in the mail. An investigation led by the US Postal Service Office of Inspector General uncovered evidence of the thefts, and Harris was subsequently charged.

Harris made his first appearance in federal court, where he was arraigned on the charges. A date has been set for his trial, which will take place on June 22, 2026, before US District Court Judge M. Casey Rodgers.

If convicted, Harris faces up to 5 years in prison, a harsh reminder that stealing from the US Postal Service is no joke. The case is a stark reminder of the importance of postal security and the need for vigilance in protecting the nation’s mail.
