A New York man is facing serious time for his alleged role in a stolen identity and access device fraud ring. Dustin Lemmon Carpio, 33, is accused of conspiring to commit wire fraud, using counterfeit access devices, and possessing fake passports.
The case went federal after investigators with the US Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service and the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office cracked the operation.
Carpio is facing a laundry list of charges, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, use of a counterfeit access device, and possession of 15 or more counterfeit and unauthorized access devices.
He’s also accused of using a false passport and aggravated identity theft, which carries a mandatory two years in prison if convicted.
Carpio’s trial is set for May 18, 2026, in front of US District Court Judge T. Kent Wetherell, II.
