Rachel Lee Flynn, Firearms Straw Purchase, West Virginia 2022

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A Martinsburg woman has been found guilty of a firearms straw purchase. Rachel Lee Flynn, 38, admitted to falsifying paperwork to purchase a firearm, stating the 9mm pistol was for her when, in fact, it was meant for someone else.

According to the court records, the crime took place in March 2022 in Morgan County. The defendant pleaded guilty to one count of “False Statements During Purchase of a Firearm.”

Flynn faces up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated.

The case was presided over by U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble. This is a developing story and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
