Rainell Peter Freeman, Heroin Distribution, West Virginia 2015

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – A Wheeling man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for distributing heroin in the region.

Rainell Peter Freeman, 25, also known as “Kelly,” was found guilty of selling heroin in March 2015 and April 2016 in Wheeling, West Virginia. He pleaded guilty to two counts of “Distribution of Heroin” in December 2016.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Perri on behalf of the government. The Ohio Valley Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated.

Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. presided over the case.

Freeman’s sentence was handed down after he sold heroin, which has ravaged communities across the country, including West Virginia. Heroin distribution has led to numerous deaths and addiction problems in the region.

The Ohio Valley Drug & Violent Crime Task Force has been working tirelessly to combat the heroin epidemic in the area. The task force has made numerous arrests and seizures in recent years, and this case is just one example of their efforts.
