MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – Jeremiah David Wallace, a 29-year-old man from Ranson, West Virginia, was today sentenced for illegal possession of a firearm, according to Acting United States Attorney Betsy Steinfeld Jividen. The case marks the culmination of an investigation that exposed Wallace’s dangerous disregard for gun laws.
Wallace, who stands accused of having multiple firearms in Berkeley County in November 2015, has now admitted to one count of ‘Felon in Possession of Firearm.’ His conviction stems from a previous felony conviction in Frederick County, Virginia, which legally bars him from owning or possessing firearms.
The defendant faces up to ten years in prison and a fine reaching $250,000. The sentence will be determined by the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, considering the gravity of his offense and any prior criminal history.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn M. Adkins led the prosecution on behalf of the government, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Ranson Police Department conducting the investigation. The case was presided over by U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble.
This conviction serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who possess firearms in violation of federal law, emphasizing the government’s commitment to upholding public safety. Wallace now awaits sentencing, which is expected to reflect the seriousness of his offense and the threat he poses to society.
