KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Raytown’s James Anthony Bee, 56, has pleaded guilty in federal court to a litany of child pornography possession charges, marking his second brush with the law involving sexual exploitation of minors.
Bee, already convicted for distributing child porn, now faces an extensive sentence after a probation sweep turned up over 1,300 videos and 9,000 images on his property. The discovery came during an unannounced home inspection where Bee’s actions escalated to a dangerous level, culminating in a broken window and a botched suicide attempt.
With a previous seven-year federal prison term and 15 years of supervised release under his belt, Bee’s latest offense adds further weight to his criminal record. Sentencing guidelines set the minimum at 10 years without parole, with a potential 20-year term.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, the DOJ’s nationwide initiative targeting child sexual exploitation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth W. Borgnino is prosecuting, and Bee’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 24, 2024.
