⏱ 2 min read

A Sioux City man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm despite a history of violence and previous convictions, authorities said.

Valon Jackson Jr., 40, was driving erratically in June 2024, speeding through residential neighborhoods, evading police, and striking an unoccupied vehicle before finally being apprehended.

During the pursuit, another citizen reported finding a firearm in a yard on Jackson’s flight path, which was later confirmed to bear his fingerprints.

Jackson had a blood-alcohol level and blood-shot eyes, and officers found marijuana, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle.

He had a 2023 arson conviction and a 2011 federal conviction for possession of a firearm by a felon.
