Rickey Ballard, Felon in Possession of Firearm, California 2023

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – A grim reminder of the dangers of illegal gun possession: Rickey Everett Ballard, 29, has been sentenced to 51 months in prison for Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition. This sentence comes after Ballard’s conviction for knowingly harboring a semiautomatic pistol and rounds of ammunition following his previous criminal convictions.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the sentencing. The crime was investigated by the Muskogee Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Ballard pleaded guilty on December 17, 2024, to possessing a .300 Blackout caliber pistol and twenty-nine rounds of ammunition between May 1 and May 29, 2024.

This case is a part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence. The program fosters community trust, supports preventive organizations, sets enforcement priorities, and measures results – all in the effort to make neighborhoods safer.

The hearing was presided over by Honorable Ronald A. White, Chief U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Ballard will be transported to a federal prison facility under U.S. Marshals Service custody, where he will serve his non-paroleable sentence.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jonathan E. Soverly and Lewis M. Reagan represented the United States in this case.
