New Orleans, LA – Ringo Mitchell Jr. (“MITCHELL JR.”), 36, of Tickfaw, Louisiana, was handed a 41-month prison sentence on July 3, 2025, for his role in a federal methamphetamine conspiracy, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson.
The defendant, along with seven other individuals, plotted the distribution and possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine across Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, from an unknown start date until at least September 10, 2024. Mitchell Jr. was specifically charged with conspiracy to distribute meth, illegal use of a communications facility, and possessing over 50 grams of meth mixture, violations of Title 21 U.S.C. §§ 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(B).
According to the indictment, Mitchell Jr. and his co-conspirators utilized wire and electronic communications to execute their scheme. One other suspect has already entered a guilty plea in this case.
This sentence comes as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which combines law enforcement efforts and community resources to combat violent crime and gun violence, aiming to secure safer neighborhoods for all. Launched on May 26, 2021, the strategy focuses on fostering trust in communities, supporting organizations preventing violence, strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, Hammond Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office for their efforts. Assistant United States Attorney Lauren Sarver of the Narcotics Unit is handling the prosecution.
