Robbie Reese Pleads Guilty to PPP Fraud, Pearl MS, 2024

A 46-year-old woman from Pearl, Mississippi, has been brought to justice for her involvement in a scheme to defraud the COVID-19 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Robbie Reese, a resident of Pearl, pleaded guilty to a scheme that saw her fraudulently claim and receive over $1.3 million in federal tax rebates and PPP funds.

According to court documents, Reese submitted false Internal Revenue Service tax forms claiming reimbursement for payments to nonexistent employees and false loan documents for PPP loans. This was a brazen attempt to swindle the system and line her own pockets with taxpayer money.

The scheme was uncovered by the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation and the Secret Service, who are investigating the case. The U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi, Supervisory Special Agent Louis Norvell of the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation, and Resident Agent in Charge Kyle Smith of the Secret Service made the announcement.

Reese is scheduled to be sentenced on November 7, 2024, and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. The sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
