PHILADELPHIA – The grim saga of Christopher Burton, 45, and Khalil Jackson-Fletcher, 33, has reached its chilling conclusion as both men were convicted today at trial for their roles in a series of armed kidnappings and robberies.
The duo masterminded a scheme that targeted individuals known to them, orchestrating two high-stakes kidnappings. On December 18, 2021, they abducted Victim 1 during what was supposed to be a vending machine sale, ultimately stealing more than $15,000 from the victim’s accounts.
In early February 2022, their diabolical plan expanded when they targeted Victim 2, owner of a business that dealt with international shipments. The victims were subjected to ruthless beatings, torture, and constant demands for money, culminating in a harrowing two-day captivity during which Victim 2’s bank accounts were emptied.
Burton, the ringleader, used his cunning online ads to lure unsuspecting victims into situations that would lead to their abduction. Jackson-Fletcher played a key role in the violent confrontations and even inflicted harm on an infant.
Both defendants faced serious charges, including conspiracy to commit kidnapping, robbery, Hobbs Act robbery, and using firearms during crimes of violence. A federal jury saw through their web of deceit and convicted them on all counts.
The convictions are a stark reminder of the terror Burton and Jackson-Fletcher inflicted upon their victims. They now face life sentences, with Jackson-Fletcher already sentenced to 34 years in prison. The justice system has delivered its verdict, but the scars left by these heinous crimes will take years to heal.
