Robert William Sanchez, Producing Child Sexual Abuse Images and Videos, Florida 2022

In a disturbing case of child exploitation, 36-year-old Robert William Sanchez of Port Charlotte, Florida, has been sentenced to 29 years in federal prison for producing images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of a minor.

According to court documents, Sanchez produced images and videos of his sexual abuse of a 10-year-old child in May of 2018. The victim reported the abuse to authorities in November 2020, leading to an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Fort Myers Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

On December 11, 2020, officers executed a search warrant at Sanchez’s residence and located his digital camera. A forensic analysis of the camera revealed the disturbing images and videos.

Sanchez pleaded guilty to the charges on June 22, 2022. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Yolande G. Viacava.

U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber handed down the 29-year prison sentence, along with a life term of supervised release and ordered Sanchez to register as a sex offender.

This case is another example of the horrors of child exploitation and the importance of protecting our children from such abuse. It is also a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors who work tirelessly to bring perpetrators like Sanchez to justice.
