Convicted Alien Sentenced to Time Served in Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – Rosell Geovanny Recinos Arita, a 30-year-old native of Honduras, has been sentenced for re-entry of a removed alien in a federal court in Louisiana. On June 17, 2025, Arita pleaded guilty to the crime, which is a violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).

Arita was previously deported to Honduras on June 19, 2018, but was found in St. Tammany Parish on or around February 24, 2025. He had attempted to re-enter the United States without authorization.

Rosell Geovanny Recinos Arita’s case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime. The operation streamlines efforts and resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson praised the work of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell of the General Crimes Unit oversaw the prosecution.

Rosell Geovanny Recinos Arita was sentenced by United States District Judge Susie Morgan to time served. This conviction serves as a reminder of the consequences of attempting to re-enter the United States after being removed.
