A Harrisville man was sentenced to 9 years in federal prison for possessing child sexual abuse material in a case that highlights the importance of reporting such crimes to authorities.
Ryan Vallee, 31, was sentenced to 108 months in federal prison and 5 years of supervised release in federal court in Concord, according to U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan.
Vallee was also ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution. He was on federal supervised release at the time of the offense, having previously been convicted in 2017 of interstate threats, computer fraud and abuse, aggravated identity theft, and cyberstalking.
On June 6, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant on Vallee’s home, car, and electronics, where they found a cellphone containing four videos of child sexual abuse material and 175 images of the crime, as well as an SD card containing 11 videos of the same material.
The Department of Homeland Security led the investigation, with assistance from the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office, the Harrisville Police Department, and the Belmont Police Department.
Assistant U.S Attorney Anna Z. Krasinski is prosecuting the case, which is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse.
The case is one of many that highlights the importance of reporting child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which received a cyber tip that led to the detection of Vallee’s crime.
