North Attleboro Man Indicted on Child Pornography Charges

A North Attleboro man has been indicted on six counts of child pornography charges, including distribution of an animal crush video. Samuel Maigret, 25, was arraigned in U.S. District Court in Providence on the charges, which were brought forth by a federal grand jury in Providence.

According to court documents and information presented to the court, during a June 2021 court-authorized search of Maigret’s then Pawtucket residence and of a cellphone located on his person, Homeland Security Investigations agents and members of the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force discovered a significant quantity of images and videos depicting adult males involved in sexual acts with infants.

A forensic review of Maigret’s digital storage devices revealed evidence that Maigret possessed and allegedly distributed a video via an online application that depicts an individual causing serious injury to a dog by using an object to penetrate the dog.

Maigret pled not guilty to the charges, which include distribution of child pornography, receipt of child pornography, possession of child pornography, access with intent to view child pornography, distribution of an animal crush video, and transfer of obscene material (the animal crush video).

“An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty,” stated the U.S. Attorney’s office.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise M. Barton.

Maigret’s current status is pending trial. The case is a disturbing reminder of the prevalence of child pornography and animal cruelty in our society.

As a society, we must come together to prevent such heinous crimes and bring perpetrators to justice.
