Fort Wayne Man Sentenced for Child Exploitation
A 25-year-old Fort Wayne man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in the sexual exploitation of a minor.
Scott Trischler pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Holly A. Brady. He will also serve 5 years of supervised release following his prison term, and must pay a special assessment of $5,100.
According to court documents, Trischler communicated with a 12-year-old victim while playing an online game. Despite learning the victim’s age, he continued to engage with her and even convinced her to send him sexually explicit images.
Trischler’s actions were investigated by the FBI in Sacramento, California, in conjunction with the Madera County Sheriff’s Department and the Fort Wayne Resident Office of the FBI. The case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stacey R. Speith.
The case was initially filed in the Eastern District of California, but was prosecuted in the Northern District of Indiana. Trischler was arrested and pleaded guilty in the Northern District.
U.S. Attorney Kirsch announced the sentencing, which marked a significant victory for law enforcement in the fight against child exploitation.
Trischler’s sentencing serves as a reminder of the dangers of online predators and the importance of vigilance in protecting children from exploitation.
