SD Man Charged with Injurious Articles as Nonmailable
A Pierre man is facing serious charges after allegedly sending injurious items through the mail. Tom J. Parsons, 49, was charged with Injurious Articles as Nonmailable in a case being led by the United States Postal Service.
According to court documents, Parsons was arrested and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on May 24, 2013. Parsons entered a plea of not guilty to the charge, which carries a maximum penalty of 1 year of imprisonment, a $100,000 fine, or both.
Parsons was released on bond pending trial, which has not yet been set. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Seiler is prosecuting the case.
The investigation into Parsons’ activities is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Parsons is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and the charge against him is merely an accusation.
