A brazen string of crimes has come to a head for 31-year-old Seann Mackey of Mount Pleasant, Iowa. In a stunning turn of events, Mackey, a repeat offender, has pleaded guilty to charges of meth distribution and illegal firearm possession in a federal court in Sioux City, Iowa.

According to court documents, Mackey was involved in a conspiracy to distribute at least 1500 grams of mixed methamphetamine, containing at least 150 grams of pure methamphetamine, between June 2024 and December 2024. This illicit operation put countless lives at risk, and law enforcement has finally brought Mackey to justice.

The case unfolded on December 20, 2024, when law enforcement apprehended Mackey after a high-speed chase. During a subsequent foot pursuit, Mackey was observed discarding a firearm, which was later recovered by authorities. A search of his vehicle revealed a Glock 9mm handgun, numerous empty baggies, a digital scale, and a significant quantity of methamphetamine.

Mackey’s prior convictions for drug offenses and possession of a firearm by a felon will undoubtedly impact his sentencing. The mandatory minimum sentence for this offense is 10 years in prison, while the maximum sentence could be a life term behind bars. Additionally, Mackey faces a $8,250,000 fine and at least eight years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities nationwide. By fostering trust and legitimacy, supporting community-based organizations, and setting strategic enforcement priorities, PSN seeks to make neighborhoods safer for everyone.

The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Tri-State Drug Task Force, comprising law enforcement personnel from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Sioux City Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office, and several other agencies.
